Daily Messy Sensory Activities
Saturday- Thursday, 10:30am-4pm
Friday, 10:30am-12pm; 2-5pm; 6-8pm

Messy Sensory Area is a hands-on exploration corner inside PlaySpace. Our goal is to foster a positive experience in manipulating art materials, to provide and collect ideas on hands-on home activities, and to support children as they strengthen their fundamental skills.

Every day we explore a different activity, from paints to cornstarch, and from water to glue. We use washable, non-toxic materials so that babies and grownups can enjoy the fun of making a mess!

Helpful tips when doing Messy activities at the Museum

  • SMOCKS: We have smocks available for both children and grownups. They help to minimize the amount of water or paint on our clothes.
  • EXTRA CLOTHES: Pack an extra shirt and pants. Just in case.
  • RECIPES: If you are interested in trying an activity at home, feel free to take a recipe and talk to our staff for tips on controlling mess.
  • INITIAL: Put initials or name on the project that you want to save. Our staff may remove projects without any names or initials to make room on the drying area.
  • WEBSITE: Get an idea of what to expect by checking our online calendar!
