Presidents Letter

Boston Children’s Museum has long been a place where families come to have fun, learn,
and grow. Now more than ever, the Museum is creating a bridge among Boston’s families, neighborhoods and schools as we forge new community partnerships to promote early
childhood learning across the city.

Spanning the entire area between the Congress Street and Evelyn Moakley bridges on Children’s Wharf, Boston Children’s Museum is the place where children and families connect with one another and with one of the most spectacular harbors in the world. The Museum spans generations from the youngest visitors introduced to the Museum through PlaySpace to grandparents who share stories with their grandchildren of visiting the Museum when they were young. Our newest exhibit, Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China, builds a multi-media bridge between the children of Boston and the children of Boston’s Chinese sister city, Hangzhou.

Our diverse staff builds bridges to and among Boston communities, helping children to be Green, Global, Creative, Curious, and Healthy kids. Events like the Green Fairs and O-shogatsu (Japanese New Year) encourage children to become environmental stewards and to appreciate cultures different from their own. As a LEED® Gold certified museum, we promote environmental awareness and action through highly interactive programs. Exhibits such as the Art Studio, Johnny’s Workbench, and Science Playground spark creativity and curiosity. GoKids! events like Summer Safety Day and Fitness Day demonstrate how children can make healthy choices and have fun getting lots of physical activity.

With our ability to bring people together, Boston Children’s Museum truly is “Boston’s Bridge to Family Fun”...and learning! We thank everyone – donors, visitors, educators and staff – for making this the best year we have ever had.
