HELLO CHINA!
November 7th - 23rd

This exhibit tells a story of friendship between two schools. In 2007, fifth grade students at Derby Academy in Hingham, MA and Qiushi Primary School in Hangzhou, China spent a year exchanging letters and drawings. Through this exchange, the American students gained an expansive view of China and a greater understanding of its people and culture.

As part of this year long project, students at both schools drew self-portraits. The pictures are hung side by side with the students from Derby Academy standing next to their friends from Hangzhou, China. Both groups learned a lot about how their lives are similar, and how they are different.

To learn more about Hangzhou, China, please visit the traveling exhibit Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China.
