Checklist to Host D.W. Counts Down to Kindergarten! The Travelling Play
If you can check off the following eight boxes, we’re off to a great start! Fill out the Contact Form below and we’ll be in touch immediately!
- View the play and schedule a meeting. This is the best way to start the process. Contact the Museum’s coordinator to schedule a time to see the play and discus the logistics for hosting. Once you see the play, you will know if it is appropriate for your audience.
- Download the Application. Fill out the application and email, fax or mail it back to the Contact person.
- Give notice. We need one month to schedule and plan your event. We require at least one month notice in advance of your date.
- Add to or create a School Readiness event. The play should be only one aspect of a School Readiness event. For example, contact your local library to come and sign children up for library cards or contact local health clinics to come and conduct vision screenings.
- Market the event to families. The audience for the play must be children and adults, not a class or school group. The majority of children should be 3-5 years old.
- Recruit a minimum of 50 people. 50 children and adults is a minimum number of people required to attend the play.
- Find an indoor space. Provide a space at least 20’ wide, 10’ deep and 10’ high. There should be easy access between the performance area and the audience so that volunteers can get to the stage during interactive scenes. The play and readiness activities must be the only activity in the space within at least a half hour on either end of the event.
- Find a private room for actors. The actors need a room for changing before and during the show.
