Joshuas
Journey: Diary of a Black Cowboy
Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History
Exhibit text in English and Spanish
Joshuas Journey brings to life a Dear America book
- The Journal of Joshua Loper, A Black Cowboy. The exhibit follows
Joshuas adventures as he leaves home at age sixteen to help
drive a herd of cattle up the Chisholm Trail. A trail and camp environment
provide many hands-on activities, including saddling a horse, cooking
in the chuck wagon, and roping cattle. Excerpts from Joshuas
fictional diary, archival photos and artifacts complement the activities
as well as provide curriculum links for school group visits.
