Welcome to the Japanese House!
In 1979, the City of Kyoto gave this house to the City of Boston. Since few of these houses remain even in Japan today, it’s a unique experience for all.
Take off your shoes, step in, and follow a trained Museum staff. Find out how this house was reconstructed in Boston by Japanese carpenters, check out beautiful materials the house is made of, and immerse yourself in this special house!
- Check signs and screens at the Museum for Japanese House hours and activity listing.
- Each tour takes approximately 15 minutes.
- First come, first served – very limited visitors can participate in each tour.
- Children must be accompanied by adults at all times.
